Who is the MAA?
The Minnesota Archers Alliance, MAA, is the NAA and NFAA affiliate in the state of Minnesota. The MAA is dedicated to promoting NAA and NFAA archery at the state, national and world levels, allowing you, the Minnesota archer, the opportunity to take your archery as far as you desire.
Do I have to belong to both the NAA and NFAA?
No. The two organizations share reciprocity. Membership in either organization allows you to compete in the other organization's events as an equal member.
If I am already an NFAA or NAA member, am I automatically a member of the MAA?
No. The MAA is a State organization that will conduct NAA and NFAA sanctioned tournaments. To participate in those events you must be a member of the MAA and either national archery organization.
Will I be allowed to participate in MAA events if I am not a member of the NAA or NFAA?
Yes. You are welcome to shoot as a guest at MAA events, but you will not be eligible for prizes or State records. Your scores will be posted on the MAA website under the Guest division.
What kind of tournaments will the MAA host?
The MAA will host a number of tournaments. These will include indoor and outdoor events. The indoor events will include an NFAA 300, 18m FITA I, 25m FITA II, JOAD Indoor Championships. The outdoor events will include an 810 Rounds, NFAA Field and The Voyageur Cup State FITA and, JOAD Championships. The Voyageur Cup and 25m shoots are STAR FITA events which means if you shoot a World Record it will be recognized. Also, your scores will be sent to the NAA to be sanctioned in order to qualify for USAT and Outdoor World Trial Teams.
I heard there is a dress code for the NAA, what is it?
The dress code is very simple. No camo. Pants need to be navy blue, Khaki, or white (no denim is allowed) and shirts need to be "professional".
Questions About the MAA's NFAA Affiliation
What changes now that the MAA is the NFAA Affiliate for Minnesota?
The NFAA charter belongs to the MAA. All State NFAA style tournaments will be in compliance with the NFAA
The NFAA Director will represent all State NFAA members and will hold the MAA responsible for maintaining compliance
Only NFAA members that belong to the MAA will be able to vote for the NFAA State Director
If I have a MSAA membership am I also a MAA member?
Do I have to join the MAA and the MSAA?
No - If you want to participate in the official NAA or NFAA sanctioned tournaments you must be a member of the MAA and the NFAA or NAA.
What does my club need to do to transition from MSAA to MAA?
The club needs to be 50% MAA members and a minimum of five members need to be NFAA members to qualify for the NFAA insurance program. To strengthen archery and the organizations that provide services, insurance, national recognition, tournaments, coaching, archery information, and awareness of archery opportunities the MAA strongly urges all MAA members to be members of the NFAA and NAA when possible. Without the national organizations archers would not enjoy the opportunities available to them on a local, state and national level.
If I joined the NFAA through the MSAA is my NFAA membership still good?
YES - Your membership in the NFAA will be good until your anniversary date on your membership card. To renew your NFAA membership you will need to be a member of the MAA and the application for the MAA and NFAA will go through the NFAA headquarters in California.
