In the Olympic Ranking Round, all senior recurve archers shoot at the 70-meter distance at a 122-cm target face. The round consists of 72 or 144 total arrows.

The typical ranking round for compound shooters is now the 50-meter round. All archers shoot at the 50-meter distance at individual 5-ring 80-cm targets. The round consists of 72 or 144 total arrows.

All USA Archery indoor competitions are shot at 18 meters for recurve and compound archers at a 40-cm face for seniors. Some younger recurve archers use a 60-cm face. The target face may be a single-spot face which includes all 10 scoring rings or a three-spot face which includes only the 6–10 scoring rings.
